Join us every Thursday from 4:00 - 5:00pm at the Keswick Park Community Building for these FREE readings of Gina Gallois's many books! Gina will read her various books about Opossum's each week, while also engaging the children in other activities. About Gina Gallois: She has been a Chamblee resident for nine years and just published her first two books about her favorite animals, opossums, lastyear. She is looking forward to sharing her books that will teach children about opossums, nocturnal animals, pets, and other creepy crawlies with the Chamblee community! Gina also uses stuffed animals to help maximize fun, comprehension and engagement during the book reading.   After the reading, she will answer all the kids' questions about the books!          Registration is encouraged, but not required. Masks are requested to be worn while in the community building.

Act – Sing – Dance – Play – Imagine – Create - Perform with Forefront Arts! Forefront Arts will be offering a variety of classes for many ages. This Fall, choose from three different classes:  Storybook Adventures (my first drama class): "Peter Pan": A wonderful introduction to theatre for young performers! 3–5-year old’s will use their imaginations to create stories, play drama games, participate in physical & vocal warmups, and perform as a Pirate, Lost Boy, Mermaid, or Fairy in "Peter Pan" -- which will be performed for the community on Saturday, January 22! We'll play drama & improv games, learn about theatre performance, and rehearse our show each week in class.  You'll learn how to sword fight, how to safely do stunts during the storm at sea, and practice your comedic acting skills playing a whole range of zany pirate characters!  "How I Became a Pirate" will be performed for the community on Saturday, January 22! ProTots Sports Prep is focused on preparing your children to create opportunities for their future and to be recognized as children of excellence in their athletic endeavors. NFL Football player and Founder Evan Oglesby will work directly with children ages three to six to teach them a variety of different athletic skills that will help them grow mentally, physically, and emotionally. ProTots will help children learn the basics of various sports like football, baseball, cheerleading, and more through fun activities like crawling through tunnels, leaping over hurdles, and going through ladders. Children will also work very closely with their parents/guardians to develop their skills, learn teamwork, socialize with other children, and improve concentration both on the field and in the  classroom. ProTots will be sure to have your child not only ready for sports as they grow up, but will also teach the foundations of a healthy future through their minds, bodies, and emotions. Be sure to check out the "ProTots Sports Prep" Instagram account for some examples!*Drop-ins are $40/child & 2nd children registrations get a discount of $10*

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM    Creative Movement and Dance - Creative Movement and Dance - Fall 2021
The City of Chamblee is partnering with Creative Movement and Dance to offer Chamblee residents and non-residents dance classes for Prek through 5th grade! Classes cost $65 per month, plus a $38 annual fee, which helps to cover recital and costume fees. CMD has the following class currently being offered at the Keswick Community Building: Tap-Ballet on Tuesdays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm for ages 3-5A combination class that includes traditional tap and ballet. Because ballet is the basis for all dance, the tap and ballet work hand in hand. Technical training is taught through ballet, which helps teach the proper shifting of weight and patterns of movement for tap. The music and choreography is age appropriate. Jazz-Hip Hop on Tuesdays from 5:00pm to 6:00pm for ages 8-12A combination class that includes a wide range of fun and upbeat movement.  Children will be exposed to lyrical and Broadway styles of jazz technique. Hip-Hop, the most contemporary form of dance, helps develop strength, mobility, flexibility, rhythm, and safe body mechanics, and helps them to dance confidently in a social atmosphere.  As with all CMD programs, the music and choreography is age appropriate. At locations that don’t allow tape, disposable “spot dots” to be used.• Face covering/masks as required by locations.• Only props that can be sanitized to be used.• No stamps or stickers to be used.• Dance equipment bags (for tape, speakers, etc.) if used, must be sanitized between visits.• Dress code not enforced, but changing allowed only by staff at locations deeming this safe.• Temporary suspension of Quality Control Representative visits.• Modified sign in/out procedures.

Championship Chess is excited to announce that we will be offering in-person chess classes at the Chamblee Parks and Recreation Community Building for students in the Chamblee area in grades 1-5. This location is a short drive from your child’s school.Each class includes instruction by a qualified Championship Chess Coach, time for games and supervised play. All students will have access to our online curriculum, The World of Chess, 24/7 to help them improve chess skills and have fun with chess games and activities. There are also other exciting opportunities for online play with Championship Chess during the week.- Meets: Mondays 3:00 - 4:00 PM; Drop-off any time from 2:30 – 3:00 pm.- Grades: For children in grades 1-5- Dates: November 1 – December 13.- Location: Keswick Community Building, 3496 Keswick Drive, Chamblee, 30341.- No chess on Monday, November 22- Fees: $120 for the session.- Safety Guidelines: We will abide by the CDC guidelines for schools, including masks and social distancing. ProTots Sports Prep is focused on preparing your children to create opportunities for their future and to be recognized as children of excellence in their athletic endeavors. NFL Football player and Founder Evan Oglesby will work directly with children ages three to six to teach them a variety of different athletic skills that will help them grow mentally, physically, and emotionally. ProTots will help children learn the basics of various sports like football, baseball, cheerleading, and more through fun activities like crawling through tunnels, leaping over hurdles, and going through ladders. Children will also work very closely with their parents/guardians to develop their skills, learn teamwork, socialize with other children, and improve concentration both on the field and in the  classroom. ProTots will be sure to have your child not only ready for sports as they grow up, but will also teach the foundations of a healthy future through their minds, bodies, and emotions. Be sure to check out the "ProTots Sports Prep" Instagram account for some examples!*Drop-ins are $40/child & 2nd children registrations get a discount of $10*

The City of Chamblee is partnering with Creative Movement and Dance to offer Chamblee residents and non-residents dance classes for Prek through 5th grade! Classes cost $65 per month, plus a $38 annual fee, which helps to cover recital and costume fees. CMD has the following class currently being offered at the Keswick Community Building: Tap-Ballet on Tuesdays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm for ages 3-5A combination class that includes traditional tap and ballet. Because ballet is the basis for all dance, the tap and ballet work hand in hand. Technical training is taught through ballet, which helps teach the proper shifting of weight and patterns of movement for tap. The music and choreography is age appropriate. Jazz-Hip Hop on Tuesdays from 5:00pm to 6:00pm for ages 8-12A combination class that includes a wide range of fun and upbeat movement.  Children will be exposed to lyrical and Broadway styles of jazz technique. Hip-Hop, the most contemporary form of dance, helps develop strength, mobility, flexibility, rhythm, and safe body mechanics, and helps them to dance confidently in a social atmosphere.  As with all CMD programs, the music and choreography is age appropriate. She is looking forward to sharing her books that will teach children about opossums, nocturnal animals, pets, and other creepy crawlies with the Chamblee community! Gina also uses stuffed animals to help maximize fun, comprehension and engagement during the book reading.   After the reading, she will answer all the kids' questions about the books!          Registration is encouraged, but not required. Masks are requested to be worn while in the community building.

11:00 AM - 4:00 PM    Pet Education Classes for Dogs and Cats - Pet First Aid- November 2021
Accidents do happen! In an emergency, minutes, even seconds count and many pet accidents could be prevented. By attending this Pet Tech Class, participants increase the chances of becoming a true lifesaver for their pet(s). Don’t wait until it happens – be proactive!This 5-hour, hands-on training will cover a number of valuable skills: Participants will learn how to perform CPR and rescue breathing on a simulator dog manikin, what to do when their dog or cat is choking, and how to treat bleeding or shock. Participants will also practice bandaging techniques for ears and paws. Allergic reactions and how do induce vomiting after poisoning will be discussed. Lots of example pictures will help participants to recognize symptoms, before they become medical emergencies.Each student will receive a handbook, certificate and registration with Pet Tech. Championship Chess is excited to announce that we will be offering in-person chess classes at the Chamblee Parks and Recreation Community Building for students in the Chamblee area in grades 1-5. This location is a short drive from your child’s school.Each class includes instruction by a qualified Championship Chess Coach, time for games and supervised play. All students will have access to our online curriculum, The World of Chess, 24/7 to help them improve chess skills and have fun with chess games and activities.
